At Academy Skatepark we pride ourselves in providing a quality lesson program that offers instruction at all levels. Our experienced instructors can help take your skating to the next level in our state of the art training facility. Whether you’re looking to advance your skills on the vert, street or just want to learn the basics, we will provide in depth instruction at your own pace. We also have the only Air Bag Pit available to the public to work on your more advanced or dangerous maneuvers in the safest way possible. Private – $160 member / $192 non-member

Semi-Private – $110 member / $132 non-member (lesson with friend or sibling)

Group – $90 member / $108 non-member


Sundays: 9am – 11am

Neal Mims has dedicated over 30 years of his life to skateboarding and have been a professional for 16 of them. He has graced the pages of major magazine publications worldwide and has appeared in numerous skate videos and TV shows. He has skated with the best athletes in the industry such as: Tony Hawk, Danny Way, Paul Rodriquez, Rodney Mullen, Torey Pudwill, Rob Dyrdek, Chris Cole, Bob Burnquist, and Ryan Sheckler. Neal loves to share his knowledge and experience with others while having fun and making connections with my students. He particularly enjoys watching my students grow into more confident, experienced skaters. With his unique sense of humor, his is able to connect to each individual, and make every experience memorable.

Mike Wilson has been skateboarding for 24 years and instructing for 15.  He began working at the Encinitas YMCA Skatepark as an instructor in 2001.  In 2008 he received his BA in Business Management and soon became the Coordinator of the YMCA Skatepark.  He successfully managed programming and operations there for 7 years before leaving in 2016 to open Academy Skatepark. He is also happily married and the proud father of 2 wonderful boys.

Todor Harizanov has been dedicated to skateboarding for 18 years of his life and has been sharing his knowledge and experience to the youth for about 2 years. Todor started skating in his home land of Bulgaria, but in 2010 decided to fly over seas in search of new adventure on the board and more like minded souls. Now working at Academy Skatepark he is more than happy to inspire and welcome all the youngsters ready to have a good time on the board.
